Pocket spring mattress

The comfort of bedding in luxury hotels.

Invented in 1870 by an American named Zalmon G. Simmons, the pocket spring mattress is made up of barrel-shaped springs individually placed inside a non-woven bag. Each mattress is therefore composed of several hundred independent springs. Different fillings such as Bultex®, latex, or viscoelastic foam are placed on top of this layer of springs. The quality of a pocket spring mattress depends on the various additional fillings, which can be synthetic, wool, cashmere, or natural silk for the most sophisticated ones.
